The retro, boxy silhouette of Winnebago's Brave motorhome captivate me wholly, as did the sense of freedom and limitlessness of life on the road. I attempted to capture my fondness and reverence for this mundane vehicle which ended up defining a large portion of my life.

These works played with the forms of vintage polaroid camera bodies. I explored the boxy shapes and sixties/seventies color schemes, elevating the mundane, playing with the joy of a nostalgic camera that, at the time of creating these works, had all but disappeared.

THE SHAPES SERIES

In my reentry to art-making, I found myself drawn to the most basic and simple shapes-- playing with curves and lines and intersections of the two. Overlapping shapes and colors and bold, striking graphics. I decided if I didn't know where to start, I should go back to the very foundations of art-making: shapes and color. I explored the interplay of these shapes in three dimensional spaces through murals in both exterior and interior spaces.

WAYZGOOSE PRINT

Tacoma's Wayzgoose festival is an annual event celebrating printmaking and book arts. One of the most exciting elements of the event is the steamroller relief prints- 2x3 ft carved linoleum block prints that are printed using a steam roller as the press. In 2024 I was chosen as one of the steamroller print artists to create a print based on the "Sweet and Salty" theme for 2024's event.
